Clear Pond Bogs Wetland Restoration
Scope: The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division will restore the town owned in-active cranberry bogs by: removing the existing dike between the two bog systems to create sinuosity in the stream, stablize the eroding bank, remove concrete crossing structure, remove fence and pumphouse structure, create wetland potholes for wetland diversity. Status: The Town has received appropriate funding from the Natural Resource Conservation Service for a majority of the work. Town received local conservation approval on February 4, 2008.

Downtown Harbor District Action Plan
Downtown Infrastructure and Landscaping Improvement Project
Scope: The Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division is working on an assessment, opportunities and design working plan for the Plymouth downtown and waterfront areas.
This project will provide design plans for infrastructure, circulation and landscaping improvements to the downtown and waterfront areas.
Partners: Massachusetts Seaport Council, Massachusetts Division of Conservation and Recreation – Office of Waterways.

Jenney Grist Mill Fishway Rehabilitation - COMPLETED
Scope: The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division rehabilitaed the Jenney Grist Mill Fishway. The existing pool and weir fishway were retro-fitted with pre-fabricated sections of aluminum Alaskan steeppass fishway. The concrete structure supporting the fishway has been repaired and lined with stones to match the foundation at the Grist Mill.
This project will provide much more efficient passage at this site than the existing fishway and allow alewife and blueback herring the opportunity to move upstream to their spawning grounds each spring.

Scope: The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division has replaced the wave fence (batterboards) and ladders along Town Pier.
This project improves the safety of the pier and the protection offered to vessels by the structure during storm events.

Constructed Wetlands Study at the WWTF
Scope: The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division has completed the study for the design phase of constructing wetlands in the Town's Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) infiltration beds and stormwater bed. The design phase consisted of various tasks including inventory of site characteristics, evaluation of potential obstructions, wetland concept plans, alternatives analysis and final design. The Town is now researching potential grants for the implementation of constructed wetlands.
The project will provide a substantial reduction in nitrogen and phosphorus loading into the Eel River Watershed and ultimately Eel River and Plymouth Harbor. This project is a valuable aspect to the Town’s Nutrient Management Plan for the Eel River Watershed.
Status: Kick-off Meeting in July 06 for design phase. Design Phase completed Spring 2007.
