The fire hydrant on my street is buried in snow who do I call to have it shoveled out?
DPW, Water division is responsible for installing and snow removal.  It’s nice to have someone in the neighbor give us a hand, but if you have a specific safety concern please call us. To report a leaky or damage fire hydrant or one that appears to be inaccessible. 508-747-1620 x132

How do I supply keys for the fire department for rapid entry?
Come to headquarters and obtain a KNOX Company application.  Cost depends on which KNOX box you chose. All KNOX applications must have an authorized signature from an Officer of the department before mailing to the KNOX Company.

I’ve been locked out of my car?
The Fire Department does not assist with car lockouts.  Our only way to gain entry is to break a window or force a door open and this will cause damage.

How do I become a fire fighter?
To become a firefighter in placeCityPlymouth you must pass an open competitive state exam for entry firefighter. Entry exams are held every other year (even years, 2004, 2006, 2008). placeCityPlymouth has a resident's preference for hiring police and firefighters. The applicant must live in the town of placeCityPlymouth for 1 year prior to the exam date. Further information is available from the Massachusetts Human Resources, Civil Service Division.
Plymouth Fire Department is a career department, there are no volunteer or Call Firefighter positions.
