Welcome to Plymouth's New Website
New Town of Plymouth Website

January 14, 2009

Greetings!  On behalf of the Town of Plymouth, I am thrilled to welcome you to our new and improved website, recently launched on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009.

Following months of collaborative work between our internal Website Re-Design Committee and Virtual Town Hall (the company that constructs and supports our website), the launch will make available a site that is both aesthetically and functionally superior to our current site.

Highlights of the new site include:

·         A new, historical theme with a “blended masthead” of Plymouth images, featuring photos by local photographer Wes Ennis, superimposed over text from the Mayflower Compact.

·         An updated layout providing organizational and functional improvements, resulting in the elimination of clutter and more intuitive site navigation.  Access to information and services has been reorganized in response to the most common traffic patterns of our site visitors.

·         Enhanced informational listings for Residents, Businesses, and Visitors that will now group relevant links by category, making it easier to find several links related to one topic in one central place.  [For example, a resident who may be searching for information on services available to Plymouth’s seniors can now click on “Residents” and find a grouping of links specifically related to seniors.  Previously, the “Residents” section of the website simply contained a listing of links, in no particular order.]

·         A rotating slideshow that will allow us to present seasonal images of Plymouth’s diverse landscapes, neighborhoods, attractions, and people.   The Website Redesign Committee will engage the public to submit photos for the slideshow on an ongoing, seasonal basis, further encouraging traffic to the site.

·         An improved search engine that will provide our web visitors with better access to the specific information they seek.

I hope you will find the new page to be visually evocative of Plymouth’s historical and natural character and—most important—user-friendly, easily accessible, and highly informative.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments you might have regarding the new site at administrator@townhall.plymouth.ma.us.
