Jenney Grist Mill Fishway Rehabilitation

Scope: The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division will be rehabilitating the Jenney Grist Mill Fishway. The existing pool and weir fishway will be retro-fitted with pre-fabricated sections of aluminum Alaskan steeppass fishway. The concrete structure supporting the fishway will be repaired and lined with stones to match the foundation at the Grist Mill.

This project will provide much more efficient passage at this site than the existing fishway and allow alewife and blueback herring the opportunity to move upstream to their spawning grounds each spring.

Project Partners: NOAA Restoration Center, Massachusetts Riverways Programs, Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, United States Fish and Wildlife Service.

Status: Bids for construction will be opened on September 7, 2006.

Harbor Dredging

Scope: The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division is working assessment, engineering and permitting to dredge portions of Plymouth Harbor. The harbor has not been dredged in decades resulting in safety concerns and loss of mooring areas.

This project will provide for improved navigation in the harbor, increased mooring areas and the long term use of the harbor for commercial and recreational boats.

Partners:  Town of Plymouth Harbormasters Office, Massachusetts Seaport Council, Massachusetts Division of Conservation and Recreation – Office of Waterways.

Status: Engineering and permitting are on-going. Phase 1 sediment testing is complete.

Brewster Gardens

Scope:  




Siever Field




Scope: To rebuild the 90' baseball field within this four acre park. The park was established back in the late forty's by the then park commissioner John A Siever. The ball field is used primarily by th Babe Ruth Baseball Leauge. The Department of Public Works will be rebuilding the playing surface as well as the concession building, bathrooms and bleachers



Status: Plan and design has been started by The Deparrtment of Public Works Engineering staff .
