The Town of Plymouth’s Department of Public Works (“DPW”) seeks to notify area residents and businesses of an informational meeting being held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, regarding the sewer system replacement project on Water Street.

The existing Water Street Sewer Interceptor is a 30-inch diameter reinforced concrete (RCP) sewer interceptor that was originally constructed in 1969 and serves as the primary pipeline for conveying wastewater flows from downtown Plymouth to the Water Street Pump Station. The interceptor is approximately 1,400 linear feet and is located within Plymouth Harbor. In 2021, the Town appropriated funds for the design and construction of the Water Street Sewer Interceptor Replacement project through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding program. The Town retained Environmental Partners to complete the design and permitting for the interceptor replacement work.

In December 2022, Northern Construction Service LLC, of Palmer, MA began construction of the Water Street Sewer Interceptor Replacement Project. Work was temporarily put on hold in June 2023 so that the work did not interfere with the busy summer in downtown Plymouth. The Contractor is planning on re-mobilizing in early December 2023 to complete the remaining work.

We will provide an overview of the project, including the anticipated construction schedule for the remaining work, and be available to answer any question and concerns you have about possible impacts to the area.
