Services Offered

Informational and ReferralAssistance with obtaining services (including help with finding home care providers or assisted living, obtaining Social Security and subsidized benefits, locating support groups, and advocacy, completing housing applications) is provided by our Social/Outreach Workers.
NutritionA hot lunch is served in our Nook Road dining room year round, Monday through Friday, between 11:30 - 11:55, except holidays. Reservations are requested at least two days in advance. The cost for lunch is $3.00.
Meals-On-WheelsMeals on wheels are delivered year-round, Monday through Friday under authorization of Old Colony Elderly Services (OCES) for elders who satisfy the criteria. Each request for this service must be evaluated by a social worker. For information, call OCES @ 1-800-242-0246.
Wellness ProgramZumba, Jazz, Qi-gong, Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates, Joints in Motion, Ballroom Dancing, Nutrition Information, Massage, Blood Pressure Clinics, Foot Care Services, Holistic Wellness, Weight Loss Groups and Hearing Tests are just a sampling of what is offered here.
Footcare ServiceA nurse provides a half-hour treatment for $29.00. Home visits can also be arranged. Please call 508-830-4230 for an appointment.
Legal Aid and Financial PlanningCOA works with Elder Law Attorneys and a Financial Planner who provide consultations free of charge once per month. Call to schedule and appointment.
S.H.I.N.E. (Serving Health Information Needs of Elders)This program provides trained volunteers to help elders understand their health insurance needs, review present coverage to prevent paying for unnecessary or duplicate coverage, help process health benefit claims, inform elders of their rights under Medicare and make referrals to various agencies when appropriate.
The Arts, Entertainment, and EducationCOA hosts a variety of art courses, educational courses, and entertainment events. These include painting, drawing, crafting, computer, tablet and smartphone classes, singers, musicians, and luncheons. We also offer seminars and courses in foreign languages, culture, history, and a variety of other topics.
Identification CardsFor reduced fares on public transit systems of Massachusetts through GATRA administrative staff are available at various times throughout the year. Please consult the newsletter for dates and times.
HousingOur Social/ Outreach Workers are available by appointment to assist with locating housing options. Please call for an appointment and to obtain a list of documents required to complete housing applications.



Monthly newsletter contains current programs and services, luncheon menu, up-coming events and other useful information.
AARP Tax-Aide ProgramProvides volunteer training and assistance to help elders file income-tax forms. Training for this service begins in January of each year. Tax return appointments begin in February and are on-going through April 15th.
