The Town of Plymouth’s Department of Public Works (“DPW”) seeks to notify residents and visitors that, starting on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, paving contractor T.L. Edwards will begin the surfacing of Court Street, Main Street, and Sandwich Street.
Operations will begin on Court Street at Samoset Street and will move southward along Main Street, Main Street Extension, and Sandwich Street, ending at Wellingsley Avenue.
Barring inclement weather and any unforeseen circumstances, operations are anticipated to occur over the course of two (2) days: Tuesday, October 29th and Wednesday, October 30th. Work will be conducted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The DPW will work with T.L. Edwards and the Plymouth Police Department to coordinate a “rolling detour.” As paving moves southward along the route, both lanes of traffic will be detoured on a section-by-section basis. Each completed section will be reopened, once the pavement has cooled.
Outside of the specified work hours, normal two-way traffic will be reinstated.
On-street parking will be restricted along the paving route during work hours, as well as during overnight hours. Residents and visitors are strongly advised to pay close attention to the deployed message boards and the placement of “No Parking” barrels, to determine what restrictions will be in place for their particular area.
The DPW will begin notifying residents and businesses of this work and will deploy message boards to alert motorists, within the coming days. The public is advised to anticipate detours and plan for delays in the downtown area, while this work is underway.
The Town appreciates the community’s patience and support during this important roadway improvement project. General questions may be directed to the Town’s Department of Public Works at (508) 830-4162, extension 12101, during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
