Pawnbroker License

Plymouth Town Hall
Town Manager/Selectmen’s Office

Pawnbroker License

Process Length:  Approximately two weeks.

Fee: $100.00

Renewal Time: Once a year – May 1

A Pawnbroker is governed by several statutes.

  • Uniform Commercial Code as adopted in Massachusetts under Chapter 106.
  • Mass. General Laws Chapter 146
  • Commissioner of Banks who regulates interest rates charged by pawnbrokers.

You must complete a Pawnbroker Application, a REAP Form,  a Workers Compensation Insurance Affidavit, and a CORI Background Check Form.

Once this is completed and turned in to us we will forward the CORI form to the Criminal History Systems Board.  Once we receive this back (it usally takes about 2 weeks, but could take longer) then we will put it on the agenda for the next Board of Selectmen meeting for their approval and signatures.

Before I give you your license I need to get a sign off from the Building Department.
