The Crossover at Long Beach is currently open with access for about 50 vehicles. The brood of piping plover chicks near the Crossover fledged (i.e., are capable of sustained flight of more than 50 feet) a few days earlier than expected, so vehicle restrictions have been lifted for that brood of chicks; however, there is still plover activity to the south of the Crossover that could affect vehicle access, so check for updates at the Long Beach Information page before heading out to the beach. The Natural Resources staff will continue monitoring nesting activity daily and adjust vehicle restrictions in compliance with the Plymouth Long Beach Management Plan and the state and federal requirements for protected species.
