Curbside Food Waste Collection
On average, food waste makes up a quarter of your trash. Separating it from your trash for composting reduces your trash tonnage, deodorizes and extends the use of your trash bags, and returns valuable material to the soil to grow food and plants.
The Town of Plymouth, in addition to selling low-cost backyard compost bins, through a competitive bid conducted by the South Shore Recycling Cooperative, has selected Black Earth Compost as a preferred vendor for curbside food waste pickup.
Black Earth Compost (BEC) currently provides curbside collection of food scraps and other compostables in The Pinehills and Redbrook communities and will be expanding into additional Plymouth neighborhoods as soon as there is enough interest. If you are interested in service you can sign-up here Version Options Curbside Food Waste Collection Headline.
If your neighborhood is not currently within their service area, and you would like to bring curbside composting to your neighborhood, pre-register at blackearthcompost.com to indicate your interest and spread to your neighbors.
Pre-registration ensures you’ll be notified by email as soon as service becomes available, and there is no financial commitment with a pre-register.
