Welcome to the Town's Bill Information page. Below is general information that apply to bills, and additional information is available for each bill type by selecting one of the tabs. Information about specific commitments, quarters, mail dates, and due dates can be found by selecting a tab below.   • The Town’s Fiscal Year runs from July 1st through June 30th. 
  • All tax and utility bills are due 30 days from the date of issue (excluding boat excise, which is due 60 days from the date of issue).
  • To avoid incurring interest and/or penalties, bills should be paid by the due date. Any payments received after the due date will incur interest charges.
  • Generally, two weeks after a bill is due the Collector’s office will issue demands. In addition to the original billed amount, a $15.00 demand fee and interest will be charged.
  • Penalties and interest will not be waived in accordance with Massachusetts General Law (MGL) Chapter 60 Section 15.
  • To update the mailing address, please contact the Assessor's for Real Estate and Personal Property, and the Water department for utility billing.
  • Please note that failure to receive a bill does not absolve your responsibility to pay it. If you have not received a bill, please contact the Collector’s office at 508- 747-1620 X10291 to further assist you.

Real Estate and Personal Property taxes are mailed semi annually, and due quarterly.

Please note if the 1st falls on a weekend or a holiday the quarterly installment will be due on the following business day.

Real Estate & Personal Property

  • Preliminary bills are mailed by July 1st and include the 1st and 2nd quarter installments which are due by August 1st and November 1st. Preliminary installments are determined by a quarter of the previous fiscal year's total annual taxes (excluding new builds).
  •  Actual bills are mailed by December 31st and include the 3rd and 4th quarter installments which are due by February 1st and May 1st. Actual installments are determined by the tax rate multiplied by the assessed value per $1000. Betterment and Title V assessments are included in the actual bills.
  • Real estate tax bills are only mailed to the owner of record as of January 1st. Bills are not sent to mortgage lenders or tax services.
  • If a property changes ownership in the middle of a fiscal year, the new owner is responsible for seeking out the bills for the remaining quarters.
  • Demand fees for unpaid Real estate and Personal Property taxes are issued once per year after the 4th quarter.
  • All Real Estate tax bills are subject to a 1.5% surcharge in accordance with the Community Preservation Act.
  • Information regarding abatement and property exemptions can be found within the Assessor's department.
  • Important note for Personal Property taxes:
    • In accordance with MGL Chapter 59 Sec 18, personal property assessed to owner of record as of January 1st. The record owner is responsible for the entire year assessed.
