The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife) returned to Billington Sea on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to continue their assessment of deceased and sick birds, as well as the pond’s ice conditions. During Tuesday’s reassessment, MassWildlife safely removed a total of 12 deceased waterfowl from Billington Sea.
Due to ice conditions, state officials are still unable to safely remove many of the birds on the frozen Billington Sea, but they will continue to monitor and collect as weather and ice conditions allow. MassWildlife plans to return to Plymouth tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29, 2025 to collect deceased birds in the area by Baker Road.
