Measles is a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air and can be mistaken for a cold, the flu or other respiratory illnesses before a red blotchy rash appears. This viral disease spreads easily and lingers in the air for up to two hours. Measles can be serious, especially for younger children and individuals who are immunocompromised. If you have symptoms, contact your doctor who will perform a nasal or throat swab to confirm.
